About Us

We're RUFF Academy, and we've been a dog training facility here in Sheboygan, WI, since 2019. We offer dog training, doggy daycare, overnight boarding and private in-home dog training and much more. We're looking forward to growing our business to continue to serve Sheboygan Falls, Kohler, Plymouth and surrounding areas. We'd like to personally invite you to contact us for all of your dog training, doggy day care and overnight boarding needs.

On 3/21/2025 Madelaine Specht had this to say:
Mack is my 2 year old 24 lb. labradoodle, from no fault of his own he has fear aggression of other dogs and situations (we feel this came from a boarding facility where dogs were free to roam outside unsupervised as he wasn’t the same after that experience). Mack is in a household of 4 teen and above children and 2 dogs. He was very dominant on walks, growling and lunging at other dogs uncontrollably and a few times got in a fight with his dog brother where the pup had to seek medical care for his injury. I reached out to Ruff Academy and 1 other large chain training facility, the chain facility said they were going to be honest with me and told me to rehome Mack, that it is too difficult to reset his mind not to be aggressive. Rebekah @ Ruff Academy said let me at him, I can definitely help Mack! We did the board and train for 2 weeks, in the 2 weeks he was working with Rebekah we would get daily videos of what they were working on and pictures of Mack in his new places he was training. She would tell me how he was improving and what they worked on that day. It was amazing to me to see him in videos working beside new dogs, he didn’t pay them any mind and went on with his commands, I was in total shock. I could have bet money that he would attack another dog, and that Rebekah would call for me to pick him up because of his aggression. Well none of that happened….yes he showed her his true colors on day one with his fear aggression with some other dogs and she showed him how to work through the fear and aggression with her commands. It’s been 2 weeks since Mack has been home, he is nothing short of AMAZING!!!! We can take him on walks and he can walk right by another dog like he is not even there. Our first walk in our neighborhood I walked him right up to the dog he most despises and he laid there in his “place command” and let the dog sniff him and couldn’t have cared less, this was a dog weeks ago he would lunge and growl at every time he’d see him. At home he is busy practicing his commands and his brother dogs are following what he has learned. He is calm and collected and can just be a dog now and not be fearful and aggressive. We can now shop at all stores that allow dogs and go to places where other dogs are without having the worry of him getting aggressive. He can do all the commands with distractions like a champ, he is seriously the best behaved dog now, even if he didn’t have fearful aggression the board and train would have been worth it to have a well balanced well disciplined dog. Our family a cannot thank Rebekah and Ruff Academy enough for saving our Mack! Sincerely, The Specht Family ❤️

Rebekah is an incredible trainer! We are so blessed to have been paired with a service dog, Luca, through the non-profit organization, Pawsitism, Inc., which Rebekah is the founder and lead trainer for. We get compliments everywhere we go at how well trained Luca is. He knows when he is working and does excellent with the tasks needed of him. We were able to take our very first family trip on an airplane because we had Luca for my son. My son's dream of going to SeaWorld and meeting the orcas was made possible because of Luca. We've taken Luca everywhere we go including several Monster Jam shows, various monster truck shows, zoos, amusement parks, the EAA AirVenture (with loud jets in the airshows), stores, restaurants, all his medical appointments and therapies, etc. Luca does phenomenal because he had a phenomenal trainer. There are no words to describe how grateful we are to have had Rebekah train Luca to give my son a better quality of life!

My dogs have participated in training classes, day care, boarding and one of them went to Board & Train for a more intensive round of training at Ruff Academy. Both dogs are happy to go to daycare frequently and it's nice to have them board in familiar surroundings when needed. The training offered gives practical tips and ways to practice in parks, sidewalks and the real world!

Hi, my name is Foxy. My owner Dianne brings me to Ruff Academy. On a regular basis. I’ve been coming here since I was 12 weeks old. Initially I came because I needed to be trained. As a result, I’m a pretty obedient golden retriever (Golden retriever owners will understand why I say pretty good.) After a series of dog training classes, I made lots of friends and my parents decided I should go to doggie day care so I could be more social with other dogs and humans. Here I made wonderful friends with the dogs and dog caretakers. They cuddle with me, teach me how to do new tricks and have worked on basics of agility training. It is so muc fun! My caretakers are terrific. Most recently my owner had an event come up and needed to have me stay in overnight camp. It was pretty nice because I already knew the people taking care of me on a personal basis. They made me feel extra special last night. Who knows maybe someday your owner will bring you down here and we’ll become friends.

We have OFFICIALLY changed our daycare name to: Camp WOOF! 🐾🐾

We have brought a lot of new changes and additions to our daycare, including enrichment activities, and our overall staff mindset. When it comes down to it, coming to our daycare is more like going to camp rather then just hanging out at a Basic Daycare where they run around and stare at each other all day.

As you guys have seen with how happy our dogs are with our new enrichment activities, there is more to come! Every month we’re going to be adding new different types of activities along with maintaining our popular activities such as our nose art! Nose art will definitely change with seasons and holidays which will be super fun!

We can’t wait to see our dogs faces when we add more activities, we also LOVE making our clients smile by seeing how much fun their dogs are having!
